Ο Δρ Κωνσταντίνος Γιαννάκου κατέχει τη θέση του Επίκουρου Καθηγητή Επιδημιολογίας και Βιοστατιστικής στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Η εκπαιδευτική του διαδρομή περιλαμβάνει την απόκτηση πτυχίου Νοσηλευτικής από το Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου το 2012 και στη συνέχεια μεταπτυχιακό στη Δημόσια Υγεία από το Πανεπιστήμιο Oxford Brookes το 2013.

Στη συνέχεια, ακολούθησε ένα μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα σπουδών στην Επιδημιολογία στο London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) το 2017, με αποκορύφωμα την επιτυχή ολοκλήρωση του διδακτορικού του στην Περιβαλλοντική και Δημόσια Υγεία το 2019. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι η διδακτορική του εργασία διεξήχθη σε συνεργασία με την έγκριτη Σχολή Δημόσιας Υγείας του Χάρβαρντ. Η συμμετοχή του σε ερευνητικά προγράμματα, όπως αυτά που χρηματοδοτήθηκαν από τον Ευρωπαϊκό Οργανισμό Περιβάλλοντος και την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή. Ιδιαίτερα αξιοσημείωτος είναι ο ρόλος του στο ερευνητικό έργο του Ορίζοντα 2020, HBM4EU (Horizon 2020, Grant Agreement No. 733032), απόδειξη της αφοσίωσής του στην προώθηση της επιστημονικής γνώσης.

Moreover, he has actively participated in the European Commission's Digital Europe Programme “LEVEL UP” initiative, which focuses on enhancing the digital transformation of SME’s managers and employees. In addition to his academic and research accomplishments, Dr. Giannakou is an engaged member of various professional associations. Since 2021, he has been a member of the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee and the Italy and Mediterranean Europe Network (NNEdPro Network). Furthermore, he serves as a management member of the CA19127: Cognitive Decline in Nephro- Neurology: European Cooperative Target COST Action Project, underscoring his commitment to collaborative scientific efforts. Moreover, Dr. Giannakou’s dedication extends to ethical considerations in research involving healthy volunteers, as he has joined the VolREthics Initiative: Healthy Research Volunteers and Ethics in 2023. His primary research interests encompass nutritional epidemiology and epidemiological vaccine research. Dr. Giannakou boasts an impressive publication record, with over 70 scientific journal articles published in international peer-reviewed journals. This body of work has garnered substantial recognition, with an i10-index of 21 and over 800 citations.

Additionally, he has presented numerous abstracts at various international conferences, further showcasing his commitment to disseminating research findings. Dr. Giannakou actively engages with the scientific community by serving on the editorial boards of several international peer-reviewed journals and acting as a reviewer for various scientific journals, further establishing his role as a valuable contributor to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
